Introduction
The Nursing Office manages the following processes:
Participation in the compilation of university and Vice-Chancellor’s Office for Treatment’s strategic plans, operational plan, human resources management, staff training, patient training, following up on and training discharged patients, research, infection control, assessment of key nursing processes, and participation in accreditation assessments.


Members of the Expert Team: Mohebbi, Balouchi, Soltani Mohammadi, Noori, Jafarian, Khabiri, and Mr. Falahati.
Location: Room No. 409, Vice-Chancellor’s Office for Treatment Building.

Major Tasks and Activities
Planning
1. Participating in the compilation of the University’s strategic plan
 2. Participating in the compilation of the Vice-Chancellor’s Office’s strategic plan
3. Developing an operational plan for the Nursing Office in line with the University and Vice-Chancellor’s Office’s strategic plans
4. Sending the University and Vice-Chancellor’s Office’s strategic plans to the nursing managers of affiliated centers
5. Designing Gantt charts to facilitate management of daily and monthly work processes
6. Monitoring programs in accordance with available plans
Human Resources Management
1. Determining human resources standards
2. Reviewing and analyzing the current status of human resources in centers and comparing the results with the existing standards
3. Planning to meet necessary standards
4. Planning to collect quantitative and qualitative data of human resources using relevant software
5. Analyzing data and preparing qualitative and quantitative statistics on a monthly basis
6. Determining potential strengths and planning to promote these points
7. Providing superordinates with statistics to gain their support
8. Reviewing staff transfer requests and making necessary decisions
9. Reviewing employment statistics and determining the number of staff in each center on the basis of human resources needs
10. Reviewing nursing contract requests and making necessary decisions
11. Reviewing the status of staff that have been dispatched to other centers and making necessary decisions
12. Reviewing the status of retirement and turnover cases and making necessary decisions
13. Reviewing the status of recruitment, changing employment status, and changing job title cases and making necessary decisions
14. Reviewing the status of unpaid, prolonged leaves and making necessary decisions
15. Determining major indicators for the selection, appointment, and evaluation of key managers
16. Collecting a human resources database
17. Motivating staff through celebrating Nurses Day and giving gifts and awarding certificates of appreciation
Managing the Staff Training Process
1. Planning to collect statistics for web-based training software
2. Reviewing and monitoring the program on a monthly basis at all centers
3. Developing an annual operational plan for staff training based on the University and Vice-Chancellor’s Office’s strategic plans
4. Obtaining necessary permits to hold training courses
5. Establishing an Instructor Database
6. Evaluating and supervising the determination of staff awareness and performance before training courses
7. Evaluating and supervising the determination of educational needs and training priorities
8. Evaluating and supervising training planning
9. Evaluating and supervising the determination of the status of staff awareness and performance after training courses
10. Evaluating and supervising the comparison of awareness and performance before and after training and identifying potential strengths
11. Evaluating and supervising educational effectiveness
12. Evaluating and supervising promotional corrective planning
13. Evaluating and supervising the staff empowerment program using accreditation indicators
14. Designing training programs for specialized nursing care processes
15. Evaluating and supervising the implementation of these training programs in affiliated centers
16. Holding joint training committees with educational supervisors based on a planned timetable
Managing the Help-Seeker Training Process
1. Developing an annual operational plan for staff training based on the University and Vice-Chancellor’s Office’s strategic plans
2. Familiarizing relevant educational supervisors with necessary skills and requirements
3. Supervising the determination process of help-seeker training committee members in all centers
4. Supervising the determination process of the status of staff awareness and performance regarding necessary skills for help-seeker training
5. Supervising the identification process of training needs of staff regarding necessary skills for help-seeker training
6. Supervising the implementation of training programs in the area of necessary skills for help-seeker training
7. Supervising staff awareness and performance assessment regarding necessary skills for help-seeker training
8. Supervising the corrective planning process for promoting staff awareness and performance regarding necessary skills for help-seeker training
9. Supervising the determination of educational needs of help-seekers
10. Supervising the provision of appropriate assessment tools for monitoring the awareness and performance of help-seekers
11. Supervising the registration and reporting process of all trainings provided to help-seekers
12. Supervising progress report submission by educational supervisors to help-seekers
13. Supervising the creation of incentives for staff with the aim of encouraging active participation
14. Supervising instructor and student (aside from all nursing staff) participation in the training process
15. Supervising the process of providing books, magazines, leaflets and teaching aids in all departments to raise staff awareness
16. Supervising the active participation of staff in seminars and congresses to improve their teaching skills
17. Evaluating the relevant educational supervisor
Managing the Process of Nosocomial Infections Surveillance System
1. Planning and conducting technical supervision, monitoring and evaluating activities (based on national checklists, and monitoring and evaluation packages) in order to ensure proper implementation of routine activities, programs and instructions, and interventions made at environmental levels
2. Cooperating with the Infection Control Committee of the University in discovering current scientific and operational problems and offering decent solutions
3. Monitoring the performance of infection control committees of affiliated hospitals (through follow-up meetings, approvals, etc.) and holding inter/intra-ward coordination sessions to ensure attracting necessary supports
4. Developing a comprehensive annual infection control plan based on the available strategic plan
5. Supervising the development of educational programs for all nursing staff and collaborating in the provision of relevant educational resources (posters, pamphlets, etc.) for all target groups
6. Participating in applied research projects to accelerate the achievement of the nosocomial infection surveillance system’s goals
7. Attending national infection control congresses, seminars and training courses
8. Cooperating and coordinating with relevant scientific organizations and societies
9. Organizing an information collection and analysis system to understand the status quo, advances and deficiencies, issues and problems, and identify the needs and priorities of the infection control program (facilitating the access of the Nursing Office to the Iranian Nosocomial Infections Surveillance (INIS) Software)
10. Including the “infection control supervisor position” in the organizational chart of the affiliated centers and establishing the infection control committee at the university
11. Accrediting the infection control units of the affiliated centers
Managing the Evaluation of Routine and Key Nursing Care
1. Forming an evaluation team
2. Determining processes
3. Determining evaluation standards and criteria based on the accreditation process
4. Scheduling the evaluation process
5. Evaluating nursing processes according to the schedule
6. Analyzing data and determining the status quo
7. Doing Corrective planning for promoting potential strengths and meeting necessary standards
8. Carrying out continuous re-evaluation and providing feedback
Research Management Process in Nursing
1. Developing policies, goals, and operational plans for the research unit in line with the University and Vice-Chancellor’s Office’s strategic plans
2. Building awareness of current hospital policies, procedures and protocols
3. Facilitating coordination between members of the research team (patients, patients’ relatives, main researcher, doctors and nurses, and other related specialties)
4. Encouraging teamwork and facilitating coordination between members of the research team and authorities of other hospital units, including management, medical record, IT, laboratory, pathology, environmental health, infection control, and risk management units.
5. Facilitating coordination with other researchers (outside the hospital), research centers, research institutes, research societies, pharmaceutical companies, etc.
6. Attracting interested people (e.g. nurses and other related specialties) to cooperate with the research team
7. Selecting research liaison nurses in different units
8. Obtaining information about the research experience of all liaison nurses
9. Managing manpower and providing all nurses involved in research projects with care standards and protocols, before and during the implementation of a plan, and monitoring proper implementation of all plans.
10. Submitting research results to the hospital’s research committee and educational centers to modify current treatment and care protocols (evidence-based performance)
