Introduction
Following the dissociation of the Vice-Chancellor’s Office for Treatment as an independent unit, the Medical Statistics and Records Office initiated its independent activities on October 9, 2013, as the main source of public health information, with the aim of organizing medical statistics and information, and promoting the quality provision of medical records departments and units.

Major Tasks and Activities
  • Monitoring the processes of collection, registration and preparation of statistical indicators in educational centers, health centers and affiliated hospitals
  • Collecting, analyzing and summarizing hospital statistics and preparing activity reports of relevant centers in the form of bulletins, PowerPoint presentations, etc.
  • Providing the Ministry of Health and Medical Education and other academic and non-academic healthcare bodies (budget, organization, governorate, etc.) with necessary statistics
  • Providing and organizing healthcare databases
  • Monitoring the proper registration of data in the AVAB system      
  • Monitoring the proper registration of data in the emergency and burn system
  • Organizing coordination/training sessions and interacting with relevant units to properly enforce relevant laws, directives, accreditation standards, etc.
  • Cooperating with relevant bodies in the design of relevant software
  • Answering verbal and written inquiries regarding medical statistics, records, IT, etc.
  • Conducting comprehensive regular visits of performance of hospital units (admission, statistics, archives, coding of diseases and IT) and performing accreditations.
